Other Resources

There are many other historical resources that existed before the DCC! project, most of which have provided a vast catalogue that has been incredibly useful throughout the project.

A History of the Parish and Church of Christ Church, Bradford on Avon

Local historian, Ann Chapman, has thoroughly researched the extensive history of Christ Church and the local parish.

This document is revision two of her history book, a newer copy is on sale inside the church.

It has been used to support the Discover Christ Church! project, and we are extremely grateful to Ann for her work on this.

The Millennium Project

Long before the DCC! project, Peter Martindale of Peter Martindale Conservation was commissioned to clean and conserve the wall paintings in the Chancel, Sanctuary and on the east wall of the Nave in early 2000.

Newspaper Cuttings

A number of people shared newspaper cuttings that they have saved over the years, that tell us more about the fascinating history of the church:

1919 - the Lady Chapel is dedicated to Eric ‘Charles’ Moulton Page 2 Page 3

The organ is repaired

2001 article - wall paintings and Christ Church links to the archbishop

The Kneelers

Starting in early 1989, Dorna Daw led a team of talented embroiderers to create over 200 kneelers at Christ Church. These kneelers are much loved by the congregation, the school children and community alike, and we are delighted to have many on display in the church as these works of art so rightly deserve.

The Discover Christ Church! Project was able to fund the bespoke shelving to display many of these, which are at the back of church and they look stunning.

A full catalogue of the kneelers, including dedications, embroiderers and designers names can be found on the section on the kneelers.

The Christ Church Visitor Guide

Proudly Codesigned with year 12 graphic students from St Laurence School, local graphic designer, John Strike, has produced a magnificent visitor guidebook that not only looks professional, but provides a range of fascinating facts about the beautiful church.
